The Whitman County Treasurer expects to hold the 2005 tax foreclosure sale on December 9, 2005. Information regarding each property can be found at this website or by clicking on the 2005 Foreclosures link below. Pictures of the foreclosure properties will be posted on this website in Mid-November.
In 2005 the properties subject to foreclosure are those on which the 2002 full tax is delinquent. In some cases 2002 and earlier taxes are delinquent. The grace period is three years and the 2002 taxes will be three years past due on May 1, 2005. Note: It does not matter if the 2003, 2004 or 2005 taxes are paid or not. Property is not subject to foreclosure when there are three years past due but when one year is three years past due.
We do not maintain a mailing list to advise the public of tax foreclosure matters. This information is available on our website: whitmancounty.org/treasurer/foreclosure.
We do not sell "tax certificates" or "deeds" of any nature.
Parcels may be redeemed from foreclosure at any time up to the day before the auction so it is important to check the website often. Redeemed properties will be removed from the website promptly.
