Press Release

MEDIA RELEASE
December 17, 2003

The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday season. We would, however, like to remind everyone that burglaries and thefts often increase during the holidays.

The areas in and around Endicott, St. John, Dusty, and Lacrosse have experienced a recent increase in burglaries and thefts. At this time, it does not appear every case is related.

Sheriff Myers stated, “We have recently seen a small increase of non-residential type burglaries in the small town communities in Whitman County. The suspects in these burglaries are targeting places where they are likely not to ‘bump into anyone’.”

As a precaution the Sheriff’s Office is reminding citizens to take the extra steps to ensure their property is safe.

-Remember to lock doors to buildings and vehicles.

-Leave a light and possibly a radio or television on in your residence when you are not present.

-Let a neighbor or trusted friend know if you will be gone for an extended period of time.

To provide information on recent burglaries or report suspicious activity call Whitcom (509-397-4341 or 509-332-2521).
