Whitman County Sheriff


COLFAX, WA - The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a commencement ceremony for the graduation of 12 Reserve Peace Officers on Saturday at 2pm, November 22nd, 2003 at the Whitman County Fairgrounds. The Sheriff’s Office has been conducting the state certified reserve academy since May, 2003. Reserve Officer Candidates from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Garfield, and the City of Tekoa will be participating in the ceremony.

The Whitman County Reserve Academy consists of 220 hrs. of documented training in the areas of criminal law, criminal procedures, patrol procedures, ethics, diversity, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, community relations and other related areas of study. Successful candidates are required to pass a final exam administered by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. 10 graduates will be sworn in as Whitman County Deputies and will be expected to complete another 300 hrs of Field-Training.
